Physiotherapy Sports
Physiotherapy is a specialized field dealing specifically with sports related
injuries and requires the physiotherapist to have an extensive knowledge of sporting
injuries and their management.
Injuries such as acute sprains, strains and tears, or chronic overuse injuries
require immediate management in order to maximize recovery. All our Physiotherapists
are affiliated with sporting teams and organizations and have a wide range of
skills to manage specific sporting injuries. Our
Physiotherapists aim to rehabilitate you using hands-on techniques as well as
regaining your strength, mobility, balance and co-ordination to ensure you are
ready to return to sport safely.
Musculoskeletal
physiotherapy Musculoskeletal
physiotherapy involves the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of any physical
condition, injury or problem. The physiotherapists at Balaclava St. Kilda Physiotherapy
Centre are highly trained at assessing the underlying causes of joint, muscle
and nerve injuries and accordingly provide an effective treatment to relieve your
pain and get you moving again. A
wide variety of techniques are implemented, ranging from gentle mobilizations
to strengthening, to therapeutic pain- relieving techniques and firmer soft tissue
techniques. These techniques are combined with exercises and education regarding
the management of your condition and preventing recurrences.

Clinical
Acupuncture Clinical
acupuncture is a traditional Chinese medical technique for unblocking chi by inserting
needles in particular points on the body to balance the opposing forces of yin
and yang. Chi is an energy that permeates all things. It is believed to flow through
the body along the 14 main pathways called meridians. When yin and yang are in
harmony, chi flows freely within the body and a person is healthy. When
a person is sick, diseased, or injured there is an obstruction of chi along one
of the meridians. Acupuncture techniques are used together with physiotherapy
to assist with the treatment of musculo-skeletal and sporting injuries, headaches
and more.

Clinical
Pilates
Originated
by Joseph Pilates, the goal is to strengthen and stretch the muscles while integrating
the mind and body. Clinical Pilates has been designed by physiotherapists who
combine the original principles of Pilates with the current research in spinal
stabilization to produce the optimal exercise program for the management of numerous
physical conditions and problems. The
clinical Pilates exercises can be adapted to meet your needs according to your
condition and problem whether it be improving your flexibility, core strength,
posture, low back pain and/or sports injuries.
